Headache while lifting

Postby stlou on Sun Dec 07, 2008 7:08 pm

I started working out 4 months ago. I'm 41 white male decent shape. 6'0" 180 lbs & looking to tone up. I started 4 weeks doing cardio, & after that mostly weight lifting. Recently while doing dumbbell flys I get a headache above my right eye. I have a doctors appointment setup in a few weeks & have limited the dumbbell flys, but wondered if anyone on here has had that happen, if it is something real serious or not. Would rather not go through a series of tests & the Doctor not find anything wrong.
Thanks

Did it occur just doing Flyes?

Were you remembering to breathe properly during the exercise? Sometimes if you're focusing a lot on a movement, you can forget ot do that. It's easily done.

Were you hydrating properly?

Did you take any caffeinated products prior to training? Caffeine can constrict bloodvessels.

It's a possibility you might have been constricting one or more bloodvessels / capillaries, on one side of your body, if so you might have been causing mild oxygen starvation in the affected area.

I cannot say for definite this is likely, but I think it's possible.
A good body comes from hard work.
