Patellar Tendinosis

Postby Mr. Ed on Sun Nov 09, 2008 9:10 pm

So this is basically what I have been diagnosed with. According to the ortho... its a degenerative patella tendon. I cant work my legs and it has been killing me. This sprung from not treating a minor patella fracture soon enough.

I have searched far and wide for any info regarding what I can do for this situation. It looks like not much. I go to physical therapy, use hot and cold compresses, take msm and cissus. Nothing is happening. I see the dr in 9 days.

Any input?

Have you been given any Cortisone shots, as Cortisone is often used to treat Tendonitis.

The other problem with Tendonitis injuries is, if thye get too difficult to treat, as a last resort you might have to be given a Tendonectomy, which means you will get some of the Tendon cut away.

Hopefuly it won't lead to that, and the Physio, Cissus, and other things will help.

yea no cortisone, many studies are showing that it actually will do more long term damage in my case.

I thought it was maybe getting a little better, but it really isnt at all.

Last month the doc did something called "making the tendon bleed" where he would stab the tendon with a needle to promote bloodflow and growth.

I decided to discontinue the physical therapy, its just a pain to get there 3x per week and really i can do all that stuff on my own, eccentric training and all, plus i feel my strength has gone up since coming off the crutches but the pain and innability to make certain movements is the same.

I see the doc in a week. I have the feeling I am going to need some kind of surgery as it seems that there aren't many more routes to choose from. Really, I don't care what it is at this point, if it fixes it, I'll be willing to do it.
