Triceps

Postby Dalton85 on Wed Apr 09, 2008 3:06 am

so...i was working out, and i always come up with questions but can never remember them =[

but i did remember one...

triceps...obviously there are three of them..
BUT are there ways to work them individually, cause it seems like i do ALOT of exercises that invole triceps and they rarely get tired unless i do something reallyyyy heavy like dips

No there aren't three Triceps there's three Tricep "Heads" :).

You have the Medial, Lateral and Long.

I don't think you can actually work them out individually. you would probably hit at least two at once.

The only way I can think of offhand, would be to perfform an exercise like Kickbacks and use a half reps movement, a la Joe Weider, which might actively cut out one of the Heads from being stimulated.

Apart from that I don't realistially think you can anyway.

Plus if you want to cause extra exertion on Triceps, don't be too keen to opt for Isolation stuff a lot like Pressdowns, Kickbacks, Extensions etc etc.

Dips will work, but also so will things like DB Bench Press, or Military Press as examples, as any pressing movement will have some secondary effect on the Triceps.

So I don't see it as a problem, to incorporate an Isolation move in the mix, but don't go for them as a major bulking method, use some Compound stuff to work them as well.

When you say pull the thing downwards, are you talking about Pressdowns?

P.S. you keep spelling Tricep as Tricept. I've corrected it for you, but I thought I'd tell you, not to be rude, just to teach you something :).

triceps exercises don't increase running speed and you shouldn't be on machines either

do what you NEED to do not what you want to do

sprinting is anabolic like wt training so it actually builds muscle but they have next to zero bodyfat and they're not very heavy really...mid 70's kgs i'd say at most so they look big but they're only defined...except for christie, he was both but assisted at the same time

Who are you talking about? Linford Christie, the guy who won Gold in Barcelona 1992, because if it is, I can gurantee, it's a universally accepted conclusion amongst almost every British athlete who has bene coached by him, raced with him, or was in an Olympic team with him, that he was never assisted.

If that's not who you're talking about then my mistake :).
